About Alexandre Richard
Alexandre Richard is an amazing young male vocalist from the east coast of Canada. This amazing journey began mid December of 2015 when I received an email with the subject title ‘what to do’. I read on, and became intrigued by the message from the father of a young man of thirteen years of age from New Brunswick. He went on to say that like most parents, he was partial to the talents of his son, but really believed that he had a special gift…a beautiful voice, and wanted to speak with someone who might give him some advice and insight. He had been surfing the internet looking for talent agents, talent managers, and vocal coaches. In the mix was one in particular that got his attention as he scrolled down the page…Silver Lining Management…the woman who discovered Michael Bublé and guided him on to become a super star. He noted that I had written a book about my journey with Michael so his wife went out and bought it. He said that after they read the book, he and his wife were convinced that Beverly would be the person they would contact to help mentor Alexandre Richard.
I replied back, that I have a consulting service and would he and wife and son be interested in having a Skype consultation within the next week.
He responded immediately and we set the date for the session. During the interview, Alexandre told me that he had been singing since the age of ten at various parties, festivals and contests and the first time he got a standing ovation, he knew that he wanted to pursue ‘a musical journey’.
I asked him to sing for me and he sang several songs acapella…At Last, (Etta James), Simply the Best (Tina Turner) and La Vie en Rose (Edith Piaf, yes in French). Well, there it was…a beautiful voice with perfect pitch. I asked who some of his influences were and he named Celine Dion at the top of the list, followed by Edith Piaf, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban and many more.
I told them that I was very impressed with not only his voice, but also his demeanour, which was well beyond his age. Adding to that, he was well mannered, very handsome and oh, yes, he was bilingual, speaking English and French fluently.
I knew that it was too soon to put a plan into action because his voice was sure to change over the next year. We began with vocal lessons via Skype every two weeks, working on technique and tone and experimenting with different artists and genres. The first year passed very quickly and mid 2016 we mutually began to realize that his voice was coming unto its own.
He was a contestant on The Voice, Montreal and received a standing ovation from the judges. Shortly after that, I decided to move forward with his career. His family and I agreed that after Christmas we would begin taking the necessary steps to make a professional CD for him. I called upon my good friend and talented musician/producer, Bryant Olender and he agreed to produce the CD here in downtown Vancouver at his beautiful penthouse studio, Really Grateful Music.
